2.  GIRL WITH BIRDS: WAITING.

The girl, wearing a blue dress, sits on her knees in a bare room. Her golden hair forms a cage around her face. She holds in her lap a large golden egg. Above her head, three small birds are scrapping in the air, and feathers and leaves are flying. In the lower left-hand corner, two small birds are having a tug-of-war with a small bit of red ribbon--“much ado about nothing.”

She is still trapped but this time it is quite clear that all she can do is wait. Things are “turned inside out”: she is in the birdcage while the birds are free--although they are not making very constructive use of their freedom! Hope seems to reside in the egg that she cradles in her lap.

We cannot force growth. We can only set the stage and then allow it to happen. Sometimes there is a lot of waiting. At such times the best policy is to “make haste slowly.” [SOLD]
