4. THE OBSERVER:RESPONSIBILITY.Please scroll down for description and statement |
Two little girls are flying kites and a third watches them. The kites are actually two young boys. One little girl flies her kite with rapt attention; the other one has lost interest, and the string has broken and lies tangled at her feet. Her boy-kite has gone out of control and the boy is frantic; the other boy-kite, secure on his string, watches him with mild curiosity. Each child is watching one of the others, except for the one who has lost interest--she is self-absorbed.
This reflects the various selves within the self. It also shows what can happen when we do not accept responsibility for our own actions--which is very important once growth begins. Paradoxically, it seems that we grow by setting ourselves aside, rather than by self-absorption. [SOLD]
