15. GIRL WITH MASKS:
WHERE IS THE ORIGINAL FACE?
Please scroll down for description and statement
The kneeling girl has just removed a mask representing an older woman, perhaps a priestess of olden days. Other masks, a swatch of false hair, and a pair of spectacles are at her feet, having been discarded previously. At least one mask remains on her face, and one wonders what lies underneath. The dress and shoes of the girl are copper-coloured, and she has brown, closely cropped hair. In the background, and not yet perceived by the girl, is the suggestion of an angel.
When we are born, we usually have no memory of our previous (or parallel?) lives. Nevertheless, in various subtle ways these lives influence us; we wear them like masks.
Furthermore, as the years go by, we add one mask after another: social masks, professional, gender, personality--until we are buried. Eventually all these masks will have to be discarded if we are to see who we really are--to see our "original face."
Once we truly become who we are, we can begin to perceive the angels, who are always there, waiting patiently for us to awaken. [SOLD]
