25. THE FLUTE PLAYER:
Please scroll down for description and statement
The girl is dressed in a colour called dusty rose. She sits on a hillside playing her flute. She is alone, except for a friend who supports her and enjoys her music. A drum of the sort used by African natives stands at her feet, and a small snake twines itself around the drum and over the girl's bare foot.
A time comes when creative juices start to bubble to the surface, to be released and expressed in art. Whatever form it takes, art is a solitary pursuit and the creation of beauty is a just reward for the effort expended.
A creative artist thrives on a supportive atmosphere and an appreciative audience; but no matter how perfect the situation, in the end we have to play the flute ourselves.
This piece is dedicated to my mother, Emelinda MacCulloch, who passed away on November 1, 1993. [SOLD]
