 36: FLYING BLIND: FAITH

The girl stands with her back to us, holding out a blanket on which is inscribed a mandala. On her left wrist sits a falcon. She wears a falcon mask and faces the bird fearlessly, as if waiting for a sign.

Faith is a simple, deep knowing. It is different from knowledge, which mostly has its basis in the senses. Birds have this deep knowing, which allows them to migrate with confidence and arrive at the designated place year after year.

Humans don't always have it. But we can pretend. If we pretend to have that kind of faith long enough, eventually we will have it.

When there is faith, there is no fear.
